Your movie, voice, video and reactions travel between your two devices with the same encryption technology used by video-calling apps (WebRTC, DTLS-SRTP). Our server only helps your devices find each other. It never receives what you watch or say, and we keep no copy of anything.

Is Duet Watch really free?
Yes. Duet Watch is free to use. There's no subscription, no trial and no account. Because videos go directly between your devices, there are no big video-hosting costs to pass on to you.
Do I need to sign up or install an app?
No. Open the website, type your name and create or join a room. It works in modern browsers like Chrome, Edge and Safari on phones, tablets and computers.
Is my movie uploaded anywhere?
No. The video file stays on the host's device and is streamed directly to the other person while you watch. Our server never receives the video, and nothing is stored after you leave.
Is it private and secure?
Yes. The movie, your voice, your camera video and your reactions are end-to-end encrypted between your two devices using WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP). Our server only helps your devices connect. It sees a room code and the names you type, never what you watch or say. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
Which video formats can I play?
Most of them: MP4, M4V, MOV, MKV, WebM and more, including 4K phone recordings, HEVC/H.265 video and AC-3, E-AC-3 and DTS sound. If your partner's device can't play a format directly, Duet Watch converts it on the fly.
What internet speed do we need?
For HD, about 3–10 Mbps of upload speed on the host's side works well. On slower connections, auto quality lowers the picture so playback keeps going; it works from around 1 Mbps. Wi-Fi gives the best results, and 4G works too.
How many people can watch together?
Duet Watch is made for two people: you and your partner, friend or family member. That keeps the connection direct, private and in high quality.
What happens if the connection drops?
Just open the link again. Duet Watch reconnects you to the same room and resumes the movie from where you left off, for both of you.
Can I watch any movie with Duet Watch?
Only share videos you own or have the right to watch and share, such as your own recordings or files you're licensed to use. You're responsible for what you play. See our Terms of Service.
